The NSO group has not gone anywhere … has become more dangerous

Computerworld reports that the NSO group is not going anywhere, regardless of what Joseph Biden has said in the past.

The article NSO Group returns with triple iOS 15/16 zero-click spyware attack is worrying, because it takes multiple steps to infect you, if they decide to target you.

According to the article, this is not the only entity Israel has spun up, information about others are in this article.

While the article talks about the multi step approach the NSO group is taking and has taken, it says that 16.3.1 closed some holes. We’re now on 16.4.x as I’m on 16.4.

While that may not matter, this is a cat and mouse game. The NSO group has nothing to lose here and they’re well known for Pegasus which attacks both platforms.

While the article targets IOS users in its coverage, it would not surprise me if the NSO group is developing these types of things to target those of you on Android. Before you ask, I don’t think they’ll target Windows phone, and there may be users of it out there, but if it ever became known that a target they wanted to have was using that, they would probably develop for that too.

I’m not sure exactly what to think right now, but this is definitely something to be concerned about.

As people with disabilities, these types of attacks could make our devices useless to us. Some use magnification, some use speech and braille. We don’t know what these things actually do, so we want to let people know about what we’re reading like this attached computerworld article.

By getting the word out on what is happening, we can make that difference on protecting ourselves.

I’ve not used lockdown mode, but I’ve heard people talking about it including Kim Komando. Might have to pop up on twitter and tweet this at her.

There’s much more to this, so read it if you find it of interest to you, and we’ll be in touch later on!
