Ars Technica says: Google pays $8 million to Texas

False advertising I think is a big problem. Each and every phone carrior is now saying that we get unlimited data, AT&T then saying that its 22GB before they have the right to slow down your speed.

Internet companies, especially hosting, claim you get truly unlimited with my provider under a different person telling me once that its 12GB but its a soft 12GB.

They also told me that if you don’t say unlimited, you don’t get business.

The JRN can’t offer unlimited, we have a set space limit. Even if I had my own server, its not truly unlimited, that means that everyone has equal access to the entire drive and you have to upgrade your infrastructure to keep up with the promise of unlimited.

But it seems like Google has lied about their phones, especially in the state of Texas. This netted $8 million payment to the state and other states getting a chunk of money from them.

The Ars article is titled Google to pay $8M settlement for “lying to Texans,” state AG says and I hope that others are held accountable for their lies in advertising as well.
