We know that everyone is on social media. We already have COPPA for children under 13, but this would force Social Media to get parent or legal guardian permission regardless of age.
CSAM is a big topic again, I’ve seen many articles of late about it. So, could this really be a bad thing?
I’ve now seen two articles talking about this, here’s the CNBC article. Louisiana law would require parental permission to use social media is its title.
I’m not saying for one minute that this is going to be perfect, but I think we need to start somewhere. Of course companies like Meta, Tiktok and others would be against it, the more you share, the more they get paid.
The governor of Louisiana has not yet signed the bill, and if signed, would take effect in August of next year.
Let’s see where this goes.
