We know about the issues at Twitter. In an article recently posted to Mastodon through one of my followers boosting it, it talks about Musk annoying people with the log in requirement and the huge restrictions on viewing tweets.
I believe this article has a quote from a former person at Twitter who said that rate limiting isn’t the issue, and charging for the API wasn’t worth it. They knew data scraping was part of the game because Twitter was public.
Musk annoys Twitter users by capping number of tweets they can view each day
Come several days later, we learn that Twitter silently removed the ability to log in to view tweets. Did they probably get the hint that that pretty much broke?
According to either of these articles, the engineer who posted on Blue Sky said that any mistake could be deadly to the product, as there were 7500 people employed at one time and now they’re at 1500.

I know I’m behind, as I had planned to do quite a few things today, although the day isn’t over yet. But while I catch up for the moment, wanted to get this news out there.
This news is interesting seeing that Blue Sky is out there collecting data, thread is out there collecting data and Mastodon doesn’t collect data unless people make that public.
Let the fun begin! You decide what app you want to use, the JRN is not going to tell you what to use.
Someone asked whether threads was worth it and I said no, not based on what I read, but you have to be the one to make that decision.
Thanks for reading folks, make it a great day!
