Alabama behavioral health clinic targeted, Group removes data

In a very interesting move by a Ransomware gang, Black Basta removed the Alabama health care info after finding out that they were a non-profit.

According to an article read, they make it clear that they don’t intend for them or any of their affiliates to go after non-profits.

Now there’s something companies can try, but probably unsuccessfully. They know better, do these gangs, they probably have done their research though.

The article comes from DataBreaches and is titled BlackCat adds a community behavioral health center in Alabama to its leak site (UPDATED) for your perusal.

UPDATE:  On Sunday, AlphV removed the Highland listing from their leak site. When I inquired why, their spokesperson told me the attack had violated their prohibition against attacking non-profits.

When DataBreaches asked whether the individual had the data and could try to extort Highland on their own, AlphV’s spokesperson replied that we didn’t have to worry about that as the individual didn’t have the data.

They’ve not responded. What else is new?

Stay well!
