Apple would rather back down from the UK on Imessage and Facetime than weaken security and encryption

Every time this type of thing comes up, I see someone like Steve Gibson that says that if you put in a back door or weaken what we have, you may as well not have encryption at all.

The debate continues in this 9 to 5 Mac article titled Apple says it would remove iMessage and FaceTime in the UK rather than break end-to-end encryption which is a short read.

The bill, which calls on companies like Apple, Signal and others to weaken their encryption so they can look for CSAM material.

What Apple had proposed was more privacy conscience, but what we’ve read, this may not be.

If the bill passes in the UK, Apple will probably remove the features than weaken encryption for everyone.

Let the ongoing debate continue!
