Here we go. The thing we’ve all been looking for. Tons of toots on Mastodon indicated that they would sign a web site blocking Meta from ever joining the fetaverse, and now its here.
I’m not going to pick sides, but as i read somewhere on Mastodon, it seems to me that the deal with Threads was that it celebrated growth which was not founded. That’s because Threads is pretty much Instagram and they don’t have much of anyone new because you need to have an Instagram account to even join threads.
Today’s article is titled Fear, loathing, and excitement as Threads adopts open standard used by Mastodon with the subtitle in heading 2 saying: “Meta promised to make Threads compatible with W3C open standard for social media.”
I don’t know if I believe that Meta will want to work with this group, but I guess we’ll see. I do love the opening lines though, especially with the group indicating that they know what Facebook/Meta was all about.
This … is going to get very interesting. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen. Will Meta survive or will it force a complete block because they’re all about the data and other things Facebook has done through the years?
Its going to be a wait and see type of game I’m sure.
