Sales staff exodus at Twitter: How Bad can it get?

Well well! Look here what we have, another article on Twitter and how Sales people are leaving. It covers this blog post recently posted where Elon Musk simply told Disney and others to “Fuck Off” (in quotes) as to say that he doesn’t need their advertising dollars.

The problem here is that while there may be activity on X, nobody that really cares about it is over there.

Some who may care are there because they don’t care about the rest and all their people are there, so I can see this.

Elon goes on to say that once the company fails, they’ll document the failure on the advertisers.

I do have a serious question. How many folk have paid for Twitter recently? I know that most of our community I serve are pretty much gone, and if they’re there, they post very little if at all because they are limited to the web site or app.

This article from Business Insider is saying that Linda, the person hired to get ad revenue to resume, is being pressured to resign.

That particular paragraph says:

At the time, some marketing leaders were reported to have called on X CEO Linda Yaccarino to resign over Musk’s post. One executive told Axios at the time that he’d texted Yaccarino warning her that she needed to leave the company and “save” her reputation.

The ending of the article says:

Nonetheless, Yaccarino — the former ad boss at NBCUniversal — has expressed public support for Musk throughout the ordeal.

After Musk’s interview on Wednesday, Yaccarino wrote on X that Musk “gave a wide ranging and candid interview.”

“He also offered an apology, an explanation and an explicit point of view about our position,” Yaccarino wrote on X. “X is enabling an information independence that’s uncomfortable for some people. We’re a platform that allows people to make their own decisions. And here’s my perspective when it comes to advertising: X is standing at a unique and amazing intersection of Free Speech and Main Street — and the X community is powerful and is here to welcome you. To our partners who believe in our meaningful work — Thank You.”

The paragraph above this last quoted segment is really what i want to highlight. It says:

At the time, some marketing leaders were reported to have called on X CEO Linda Yaccarino to resign over Musk’s post. One executive told Axios at the time that he’d texted Yaccarino warning her that she needed to leave the company and “save” her reputation.

All I have to say is Wow. Reading this article from Business Insider puts this in to perspective, although I did like the other article we linked to which is linked within the blog post from the other day.

You may email or imessage me at tech at menvi.porg (make it an email address) or text/whatsapp 804-442-6975 if you have any comments. I think my folk on TSB will definitely have some comments about these recent events, but I’ll let them voice those at that time.

You can also register on the blog and comment that way. We’d love more subscribers and commenters!
