Children still not protected online by social media … should we be surprised?

I sware, this has got to be the oldest subject I can ever write about. Remember these diatribes as a few starting points of my prior writing?

The State Legislators are not waiting, and while Texas was struck down, others were upheld. And still,, Social Media has not much cared about children even though the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act is out there.

I understand that it might be somewhat outdated to what we have today, but it hasn’t been updated, and even MENVI has implemented structural changes to comply after we found an issue of concern.

We even covered children on podcast 67 of TSB’s podcast so everyone understands what we have.

We’ve even gone so far as ton name and shame Tiktok with their failures.

Now, it seems like some of the social media companies are finally sending people, although through subpoena to testify to the Judiciary Committee at some point next year.

This might be a great start, but we know that social media will and has continued to drag their feet in following the law that we already have.

For those outside the United States, yes, I’m aware that it is going to be called other things in other countries. Check your country to see what its called, and learn about it so you’re aware of it.

As for the companies, its high time that you start considering following the law, as several of you are dealing with lawsuits.

Have you read the latest from Malwarebytes? Social media giants to testify over failing to protect kids is the article and it is heavily linked.

Let’s go! If we have to follow the law, you do too. Enough is enough. Why should we have to follow it if you don’t That’s right, we’ll get in trouble, you won’t. Money always wins things.

Have fun!
