I spotted two different articles, one of which is titled Apple explains how it will comply with EU laws and how bad they are.
While they have been reluctant in opening their application processes to third parties, they document in a 60 page linked file about what could go wrong.
The most that could go wrong, the article says, are malicious apps like the ones that delbt with scams like the Pig Butchering scam.

In the second related article titled Apple hit with over 1.8 billion euro fine | Cybernews it talks about the fact that Apple has to pay a fine for violating EU rules.
Of course, Apple will fight in court, saying that the only company benefitting will be Spotify.
