Self Driving mode doesn’t recognize trains, crossing gates?

This is probably not going to be the last time we hear about someone getting caught up in self driving mistakes.

Google hasn’t been heard of in years, and Waymo has also had their own issues as well.

If I were going to use the self driving mode, I’d make sure I was paying attention, even if the car didn’t tell me that there was a potential issue it couldn’t figure out.

The driver said in this article that he was alert, yet took no action.

  1. To be honest, this thing doesn’t recognise everything.
Its like trusting your gps, you should always check where you are going.
We often go on holiday and use cruise control in our vehicles.
It can set speeds but corners are a tricky run.
So things can judder a lot more and be more abrupt as the radar fails to see where it goes.
So its a thing one has to watch.
Invariably there are the poor dumb fucks that simply don’t pay attention and so we can have gps being thoughtt as god and its only as good as your database.
With car and other companies charging for gps updates a year like 125 dollars for ours per year its better to get a good mobile plan and use the google cloud ai gps which is completely live tile generated and knows where you are going at all times.
Down side is that you don’t always get coverage.
To avoid that buying and using a secondary level gps unit may be your next best thing.
They cost reasonably enough and you can get deals for 2 countries.
You can also for the mobile on google I think download maps of the location you are going to your phone if you know you go off road.
    Just keep your batteries charged.
My brother found it the hard way, lets face it gps, music etc especially if its accessing the system or the cellnet will drain your power and heat your device.
