ICQ messenger closing its doors

Hello folks,

I’ve known of ICQ since pretty much its inception. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it was not used by me.

In a recent toot posted to mastodon, one of my followers indicate that it wasn’t accessible enough to care, and as I said, I never used it.

Its interesting to note that ICQ was the messaging platform in the early days for Cybercrime before it became what it was today.

Lots of stories have talked about actors who have had ICQ numbers as part of their reporting.

Now, they use telegram as we know, and its interesting to note that its not all that great either.

I’m curious if you have used it. The article states it was declined, and what was interesting, this same article states that the application has been baught once by mail.ru, the same mail.ru I see in Spam email forms. Good job!

Are you sad it is going away or not? For me, I’m not exactly sure what I think.
