podcasts 202 and 203 update

Hello gang,

I know i’ve been neglecting this blog when it comes to the podcast releases, so I’m going to make it up to everyone now.

Podcast releases are on the RSS feed but if you don’t have access to RSS, than please use the download links provided from within this post or visit the TSB directory to pick up your copy.

Podcast 202

Here is the 168.9mb file of TSB 202.

While rough around the edges with everyone out and about, we talk about the CFAA and where we might be now.

Show notes

On podcast 202 of the Security box, we revisit a topic that we think isn’t doing any good today. That is, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. We take from Wikipedia’s article discussing it, and we discuss whether its worth having it or doing something else.

We also covered the news and the landscape, and yes, we had people out and about this week. We push on.

Enjoy the program and thanks for listening!

Thanks to our affiliates for playing our program, and those that provide the content for publishing it. See you next time!

Podcast 203

Here’s the 170.1mb file for download.

Podcast 203 was much better in its presentation, and I’m happy for that. We’ve got a bunch of questions within this podcast and what better way than to ask them. One of which leads to our topic of percentages of people who are affected by breaches thanks to a study. The study also says that its not all the companies fault, which it isn’t in some cases.

Show notes

What is the number of percentage points that we recently saw when it came to our data being pilfered as victims go? What email seems to be making a comeback that we’ve not seen in a number of years, yet a customer of mine has gotten two of them within days of each other? What might be the subject matter of these emails and what are they trying to get this customer to do? Hint, its something we talked about probably in 2018 when The Mix and the JRN got these types of emails.

Besides all of these questions, we’re going to cover the landscape and some of what we’ve blogged or spotted in the news.

We hope that you enjoy the program, and thanks for listening!

What percentage of victims are up when it comes to Data Breaches?

We blogged our thoughts on this topic, as well as linked to the original Article thanks to MalwareBytes.

The number is staggering, although it would be a lot less percentage wise except for a couple of breaches as part of a Q2 report.

If you guessed close to 500 percent, you’re not far off, that number is only there at 490% without the breaches at Snowflake and other companies. The correct answer is 1,000% and we played the article as part of Saturday’s Throwback Saturday Night program. Here is the link to their RSS.
