When I saw the headline of the article we’re about to link to, my guess to which company it was that disappeared was going to be 23AndMe, but according to the article, it is not them.
According to the article, the company’s web site is atlasbiomed.com who I’ve never heard of. The only big one I’ve heard of was 23andMe, but I wouldn’t trust them with anything after their big fiasco last year.
So who is left out there? I have no idea, but if companies can just disappear without a trace, I’d not give my DNA to anyone.
While face ID and touch ID are popular, its on a device and is as secure as it can be. But I honestly do not know how these DNA companies show up, collect your data to help you, then disappear with no idea to whom it could go off to.
This comes courtesy of the Malwarebytes newsletter, and the article is titled DNA testing company vanishes along with its customers’ genetic data.
Call me and let me know if you thought your guess would have been 23andME without reading the article or the full blog. I’m curious!
