Tata tech hit with ransomware

We do not know, according to the article, if there was a full ransomware attack.. But the fact that it is hitting the tech press should be considered an issue, as Tata itself under different names has been hit with data stolen from them. Before you read this whole thing, think about what former group could’ve done this and actually took responsibility for it.

I don’t have a problem with those companies who want to solicit for business, but the JRN will not outsource our work for this very reason. Because the landscape is so vast, if I lose control of my assets and let someone else run it, I can gain nothing from it.

It is one thing to be hosted somewhere, you can’t host out of your own home. But your assets for web sites and how you decide to run it should be your business.

I completely understand if you can’t build your pages and assets on your own, but I’d consider really asking questions about the company and their security practices.

Indian tech giant Tata Technologies hit by ransomware attack

The image shows a modern office building with a mix of glass and red brick exterior. The scene is centered on the entrance to the building, which is surrounded by greenery and landscaping. In front, there is a sign with the “TATA TECHNOLOGIES” logo in blue. A car is visible on the left side of the image, and two people are walking in the foreground on a paved pathway. The sky is partially cloudy.
Tata Technologies Ltd. had to suspend some of its IT services following a ransomware attack that impacted the company network.

A subsidiary of Tata Motors, Tata Technologies is an Indian public multinational tech firm that focuses on automotive design, aerospace engineering, and R&D engineering in general.

It is one of India’s key tech developers and state project contractors, employs over 11,000 people, has an annual revenue of $600 million, and operates 18 locations in India, North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

The article does state that the CDN network of their assets were never impacted by the issue which is good.

With no surprise, no ransomware groups have yet to “take responsibility” of the attack. Take responsibility of course are in quotes here because they can claim they took responsibility but yet have nothing to do with it.

Ransomware attacks, even if caught before the encryption stage, typically involve data theft. In the case of tech firms, such incidents could result in corporate, confidential data being exposed, which could cause damage to their intellectual property and technological portfolio.

If they’re smart, they’ll be watching for that.

Finally, the last two paragraphs talk about Hive and what they supposedly did before they got dismantled. They say:

In October 2022, the now-defunct Hive ransomware group claimed an attack against Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company.

Oh great! Another power company?

The threat actor stole and leaked data on its extortion portal on the dark web, including engineering schematics, financial and banking records, as well as personal client information.

Of course they would! Would you expect anything else?

Indian tech giant Tata Technologies hit by ransomware attack is the article here, so please feel free to read the full thing if you wish. We took it apart a little bit, so have fun with it.
