Official article on Skype’s shutdown

Our maintainer Shaun Everess sent Microsoft to Shut Down Skype: Farewell to the ‘Rotary Phone’ of Communications sent to an email list he’s on by David Goldfield.

To be honest, I still use Skype and have used it because of the public phone number. But there is nowhere for me to take this number, so I’ll let it go as I have Google already.

This article was sent several days ago, but I’m getting it today, on a rainy lazy day.

I’m going to try and get things done still, even though it is afternoon.

Thanks Shaun for sending this, it definitely makes sense. The spammers are using it and I’m always being added to groups I don’t need to be in.

Once it goes, there’s no need for me to log in to it, and yes, I know they’re pushing updates. I don’t understand why if its going away.
