One year later, sperm bank comes out with a data breach notice

This is a Bleeping Computer article, and it involves a Sperm Bank called CCB for short or California Cryobank.

There ahs been a year long investigation which is probably why it took so long to tell anyone. But the thing that puzzles me is the fact they did not say if customers were even notified of the breach. It only indicates that they have been offered free credit monitoring services for a year.

They are the largest bank and provides services to the entire United States.

An almost a year-long investigation has determined that the attack exposed varying personal data for customers, including names, bank accounts and routing numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, payment card numbers, and/or health insurance information.

Is some of this info necessary to provide services to the customers? Probably not, especially drivers licenses and SSN data. Bank account info, maybe not, unless that’s all they took for payment.

Sperm donation giant California Cryobank warns of a data breach is the article.
