jacket.fm: an audio social media network

On April 6, 2025: the Jared Rimer Network got a piece of email through our contact form. It invited us to write and/or review the app for accessibility and recommendation.

On April 10th, this network did a demo as we’ve always done, where we take an app cold and ran with it as a demo.

There were a few hiccups in the 40 plus minute demo, but things are pretty accessible and usable.

One of the things I found and have already reported came up when I went to do my first recording. I heard nothing through my phone after I hit record, or even at first when the dialogue came up for microphone access.

My second post, also posted on this day was with an ear piece that I plugged in and things worked as it should. I did find a button to enable speaker, but not sure if that is a sticking setting or not.

I did see somewhere that direct messaging is coming, and I already got a like on my first post.

While scrolling, I did see some familiar names, and you can interact and reply to posts or even do your own.

I popped in a booth where a bunch of folk were yapping, but I said nothing as i was looking around.

The developer, Rohit, did say that there was a lot to do with the web site, so the app may be your best bet.

I think I know how I can get my reach out, so we’ll see how it goes.

There’s a lot still to learn, including me seeing when I go in to a post at least on the web that I can play and see a transcript of the post.

Here is the web site for Jacket and here is my profile.

Let’s see how this goes!

The demo of the program will be included as part of our next tech podcast to be released soon.
