For the last several years, scammers have gone around pretending to be the FBI ic3 folks and claims to offer victims their money back.
The problem is, they’re out to get more money and aren’t from the FBI at all.
The article here indicates that they infiltrate forums designed to help people with the fact they’ve lost money, and that’s where it all starts.
This also reminds each and every one of us that we can’t trust folk just claiming that they’re from whatever company you’re seeking.
As I said to one company today, before some issues being worked out, I got a suspicious call I didn’t answer at a point in time, and they said they don’t call unless you call in first. They also gave me a number they use for outbound calls which was completely different than the one I got, confirming my suspicion.
FBI: Scammers pose as FBI IC3 employees to ‘help’ recover lost funds is the article today on this, please pass it along.
