We’re a dating app, and we just fucked up by exposing your data to anyone who wants it

In the Malwarebytes latest newsletter, they link to a very interesting story you can look up on your own.

In their analysis, they talk about how easy it is (maybe was?) to get at folks data by just changing a link.

What could possibly go wrong?

The app in this case is a 2023 application called Raw. By posting pictures on a regular, they’re trying to get away from your typical dating activities. The reason to post daily photos is to share authenticity with each other when one goes silent.

It does store some of its data here in the U.S. but we don’t know where else it stores it.

Its privacy policy does say that it uses “end-to-end encryption” but maybe it does with just showing the https as part of the link and nothing else?

Tey also are touting something called the Raw Ring which the article talks about from malwarebytes.

Have you used this app and how have you found it?

Apparently, the bug is now fixed, says the article.

“Your privacy is a promise we don’t break”: Dating app Raw exposes sensitive user data is the title straight from Malwarebytes.

Have fun with this one.
