Something I spotted today

Maybe my work is paying off. I know I blogged about Antivirus when I blogged What is the state of Antivirus today? Is it about dead? back in 2020 during the Pandemic.

I also blogged in 2017 Antivirus and the disabled computer user as well.

While perusing Mastodon today, and know that I’m several weeks behind, I spotted this post which was posted at that time. This is a boost, but this makes me very happy to see the news that I’m about to share.

We’ll make sure to put this in our podcast for this coming week.

Let me say that Eset at one point was accessible and I was a customer of theirs. That was until I heard that version 3 at the time was not accessible.

Please read the following toot that was boosted on May 9th.

Brandon: Boosting Martin (mcourcel): Wha wha what? Well, this warms the accessible caucles of my heart. Seen while installing the ESet Antivirus program this morning: Enable accessibility improvements, including screen reader support and notification focus. Selecting this option will enable notifications to take screen focus for JAWS, Narrator, and NVDA screen readers. Additionally, for NVDA screen readers, we provide access to the user interface. Yes please and thank you muchly! It’s about gosh darn time!

Its gotten 15 boosts and 8 replies including mine today.

Here is the web site for eset if you’d like to give them a look.

Feel free to read the notes on podcast 238 which talks about our options. I’m very happy to learn this!

I got a response from Martin and he says you can tab around and it works, but at least its something. I’ll give it a start anyway. There is a banking browser plugin which he still needs to check.
