What is Anubis?

There seems to be some confusion in regard what Anubis is.

I read this article we’ll link to, and I thought, “What is this?”

One portion of the article talks about how it is a ransomware as a service platform, while another says not to be confused with something of the same name.

Anubis (not to be confused with the same-name Android malware with a ransomware module) is a relatively new RaaS first observed in December 2024 but became more active at the beginning of the year.

On February 23, the operators announced an affiliate program on the RAMP forum. <

As of now, they only show 8 victims, and the wiper described throughout the article may be a tactic to get people to pay quicker instead of stalling for time and or ignoring the threat.

Trend Micro, a very respectable company in this space, indicates all kinds of things that you should read.

The article is titled Anubis ransomware adds wiper to destroy files beyond recovery is the article for this new threat.
