Windows is going full ai but there is a catch

Hi.
Firstly a warning from your secondary admin.
Be mindfull on your emails.
Make sure you know who and what your friends and family email addresses are.
Especially for the family especially if you are like an admin you should know if they regularly check their mail or at least use their device.
If you are not sure ask another member.
Today I got a message from google.
It said that my muther and her email address had been offline for 8 months.
While its true my mum doesn’t check ultra often she regularly checks enough.
Plus at least a couple weeks ago while we were on holiday due to connections and datasync issues her mail system became unsynced forcing us to have to delete all data and resync the database.
So I knew she did in fact access her email.
Secondly and of more importance is that her email address was missing information on it.
I first checked to make sure she hadn’t got a new address without us noticing.
Its unlikely as mum struggles with tech a load and we couldn’t get that address at the time of creating it I know because I was the one that signed her up.
I am one of the fallbacks so the scammer got that correct at least.
To be sure I didn’t click any links in that message.
It looked like google but I knew with a double check that it wasn’t.
It was quite close and did get me to wander.
Be mindfull especially when in stressful situations at work.
Today I was sitting at my workstation going through all my general grind.
This is one of the last tasks on my board and due to this storm I may in deed not even be active here all day long.
Be carefull what you click and double check always.
Moving on with the articles of interest.
Firstly edge and chrome have updates.
Unsure if edge will have another by the end of the week but who knows.
Zoom updated yesterday and firefox has a minor update to the 145 release build.
Adobe also has updated at the start of this week.
Windows 10 has an out of band update to fix and instal issue on some esu systems.
Its not to big in fact it didn’t take that long.
Office 365 updated yesterday and it appear standard is updating as I write this.

As is usual we move on to 11.
Agentic is the word for the os.
More ai stuff, and while I have continuously said when its time to join the collective I certainly won’t be joining the microsoft borg.
So more ai stuff, its got access to documents, downloads, apps and the desktop and taskbar.
Firstly, while I’d understand having access to files on the systems, drives, apps, and such as well as documents say for reading editing and adjusting via speech, I don’t know why you would want desktop and taskbar access unless you were clicking icons.
At any rate microsoft has countered this utopian future cast by stating you can enable this in settings, but you run the risk of malware and other privacy security things including personal data transmission to third party sites.
The last one I guess is semi ok but the fact the system has control of everything including installing apps is a concern.
If I did put ai into a system like this, I would allow it to edit, delete, and modify files but I’d need my user to tell it to do it.
No automation at all unless it was something a user setup.
The automated stuff pluss just about everything would need to be encrypted or at least not easilly edited on the fly though.
As far as icons, my ai should know were all programs were and what they did.
I shouldn’t need access to the desktop or taskbar, maybe the notification area but even then I am unsure about this.
Certainly the removal and installation of apps should be done manually.
Certain things in fact of any admin task should be confirmed with a password or easier just put that they have to be done via the board.
That or concentrate on the programs users would use.
Ms office including outlook and such.
Any web brouser, chromium and mozilla based.
Searching for files, media, programs, documents, etc.
Restrictions should be put on shopping and any online activities.
Even then I don’t know how ai should work on a pc market.
On my smart phone or other thing I can understand a reasonable runthrough.
However the pc has always been a keyboard device.
We have multiple security breaches a year and with ai being able to do good and bad at best the load is increased.
At worst like with the email scam I got above I could have easilly missed it out.
I almost fell for that scam it was quite easy to fall for it actually.
I know microsoft is really trying but they have this track reccord.
Even if they fixed just like valve and steam, I wouldn’t trust them because of their past.
In the case of steam it had accessibility issues and they didn’t give a damn in fixing them.
Aparently they did fix some stuff but I still wouldn’t trust steam and even though I am losing a fair bit of content I just won’t use it.
In the case of microsoft, they generate so many errors a month that I wouldn’t even think twice about not trusting them.
With the moving to online only access and with all the extra stuff going about I have no real wish to even concidder windows 11 at all if I can help it.
Then again if my next power wrig gets much cheaper I am probably going to buy it and let it wripp.
The other thing is that without ai, the echonomy, our wars and various political issues, minus all those I actually think a lot of us are trying to move forward after the various climate events not to mention meezels, covid and other things going on to be concerned with what the next chapter in the next thing to compromise our data actually is.
I certainly have no interest in making big moves.
Personally my dad has real knee issues.
My mum and uncle have heart.
One of my nefews is alergic to peannuts.
I have my own issues not to mention other things.
Life is busy enough offline without wandering what the next online drama is.
I will be posting a personal update outside of this shortly so those that follow me on smeveriss at wordpress can understand exactly what that means.
