Hi.
Today I got an interesting package.
Firstly the website.
http://valinet.github.io.
Thats where you can contact the dev and look at all his code.
This post was inspired by a post I got from twitter while searching windows 11 news like I always do each morning.
The post simply said that turning off all the new uia stuff made explorer faster and less memmory intensive.
I decided to fiddle with the patcher to see what all the fuss was about.
The patcher is basically a tweaker for the shell.
I have no use for it in windows 10 but in 11 it can be used for turning off the ribbon, flyouts, various skins, and customising everything from the taskbar and beyond.
The pages are thought out with a start and end mark telling where you are at all times.
The buttons and text is clearly labeled.
The only issues are in a few of the pages in particularly the shell extentions registry page the system is to verbose speaking what it is before every icon and tool.
I have left my review with the author and suggestions for the system.
While I wouldn’t push much on other peoples boxes, its certainly good that there are thirdparty controlers left for those that must use a system with broken things microsoft refuses to fix and continuously breaks.
Whats more this one is certainly something I will be looking at when I finally upgrade.
Meanwhile more ai is being added in the latest preview to control more tasks, shells and apps.
And its of course not what we need.
Its just another headake for users and more bugs.
The good news is that apart from dropbox and mozilla, I suspect that most things are now christmas ready.
Final updates are next week.
