Tonight’s throwback Saturday Night

Hello gang,

It’s been quite awhile since we’ve posted to this category, but its time to post to the TSN category even though this is a podcast release.

The reason why we’re doing this is because we’re going to cover two different programs that are very siginificant to the story the JRN has been tracking since last month.

There’s going to be a lot to read, but once you understand how big this is, you’ll understand.

The podcast numbers are only given for reference if you need copies. We do this in cases where we feel it’ll benefit us, although A Day in the Life is not structured as podcast numbers due to the way it is designed.

So, what’s the big deal?

Los Angeles Metro apparently has suffered a Cyber incident. We hardly know anything except what is being reported through news sources such as KNX, the L.A. Times, KTLA, KNBC Los Angeles, or any other news source that may cover this event.

Podcast 59 of A Day in the Life

The first podcast listeners will hear is coming from A Day in the Life. After explanation of what’s going on, this podcast steps through that particular article which was written at the beginning of the month.

Here are the show notes for that episode. If you want a copy, please ask TSN for episode 59 of “A day in the life.” They’ll know what that means.

Hello gang,

Welcome to another edition of the podcast. I’m Jared Rimer, and on this edition of the podcast, we’re going to talk a little bit about security.

While the goal of this podcast is not necessarily security related, there are times that this crosses and this is a great example.

L.A. Metro is not immune to cyberattacks. This is when someone who is not authorized gains access to a network.

Unfortunately, in March, this happened to Metro, and we’ve not learned a whole lot.

Many different committees, including several of whom I sit on as a member of the public, were asking questions and Metro did not really have any answers.

While trying to figure out how to cover this, I found an article from the L.A. Times that gives us an update on the situation, and we will be reading the article on this edition of the podcast.

The article is titled L.A. Metro confirms it was hacked. Weeks later, it’s still getting systems back online and I urge people who can to read it.

We also sent this article to our L.A. Metro Communications list, because I felt it was of importance.

Please send me email directly or give me a voice mail. Email or leave a message at 818-527-4754. You may also text or WhatsApp 804-442-6975.

Thanks so much for listening, make it a great day!

After this episode, I worked with Chat GPT to get news alerts in regards to this incident or even future ones because it seems like the same sources we follow don’t necessarily cover this. That’s cool, no complaining.

After that, I was at a meeting when I got the next article. Chat GPT showed me that things were working, yet I read the article the next day.

This is where confusion comes in. If you read the first article, people are still asking questions, yet questions started as early as “operations” from March.

On April 18, 2026: we pushed out podcast 61 of the same “day in the life of Jared” podcast series.

Here are those show notes.

Hello gang,

Welcome to another edition of the podcast “A Day in the Life of Jared,” I’m Jared.

This time, we’re going to cover a very big article which we need to step through.

The article is titled Ababil of Minab claims cyberattack on LACMTA, exposing risks to rail control systems and critical transit infrastructure. This article comes to us from a new publication that was sent to me through Google, because as we discuss, Los Angeles Metro has said nothing much in regards to the whole incident. This article was written on the 15th.

In an earlier article, we talk and read the article that came out through the Los Angeles times, and you can listen and or read the transcript of the podcast titled L.A. Metro confirms Cyberattack.

Also, on my own blog, which is called “Jared’s Technology Network,” we decided to take apart the two articles since there are a lot of unknowns.

One article, the L.A. Times article indicates Metro has 1400 servers, but the Industrial Cyber article indicates there are 1421 servers. But the question is, do we really know how many servers, virtual or otherwise, any company has? I think the answer is “no.”

Also, there are a lot of unknowns. There are scary numbers out there, but once you go through what’s hype VS what is known, you’ll understand what is going on.

The article is lengthy, but it is not considered a diatribe. It is breaking down what is known publicly VS what is being reported.

The blog post is titled: L.A. Metro Confirms Cyberattack as Details Remain Unclear and should be read after you consume both the L.A. Times article and the IC article.

I can be reached for comments, and I can do my best to give you answers. While I am not technically an employee, I may be able to base my answers on what should be the case, but I’m not going to lead you wrong.

I hope that everyone enjoys the program, and we’ll be back with more podcasts really soon.

As you can see, we’ve been trying to gather intelligence and push out what we can, because the very company does not even know.

Here on TSN and TSB, I’ve railed on companies for telling us that info was taken yet we don’t know how much or even what’s taken until much later. As I reflected today with TSN’s Preston Gaylor and Terry Ring, we agree that the current practice is exactly what we need, even though we may not like what’s happening.

It’s common practice for us to find out when companies do, and this is exactly what we need. Even if it is 6 months to a year later in some cases.

Today’s program will be made available on the mix’s throwback saturday night feed for your convenience.

If you need a copy, please contact TSN directly at throwback at 986themix.com (put the at sign where it belongs) and request the show for April 18th.

If you want to learn more about “A Day in the life of Jared” then we urge you to go to the page directly from our provider at rss.com to do so. There’s also RSS which is a button and will copy it to your clipboard to put in to your RSS podcatcher.
