the weeks patching

Hi.
First, chromium stuff is at 148 as of yesterday.
That means updating component checks again and reinstalling chrome afterward because it then fails to check updates after updating extras.
The mozilla thing according to firefox is close to the 151 release next month.
Nothing else is updated but the latest 7zip is now on sourceforge, better late than never I suppose.
The latest 250 release of dropbox is finally on the release page.
I mean we all have it now but not the backup file.
For those that use the coolsoft midi system its finally got an update after 2 years inactivity.
In windows a reminder for those not on support which ends in october that you have 6 weeks till security on boot expires.
That means no security when booting.
I am not sure what a system does after your certs expire but I’d make sure you have backups in case your system refuses to boot.
I need to buy another box by october this year.
I am seriously thinking about just running windows 11 in server mode on my unsupported amd 2000 cpu.
Reviews state it should run fast enough and becides I don’t need another system to be honest.
My aunt does need another system though.
And to be honest for what its worth I like this box as it is.
Its certainly a better backup than the one before it.
In windows news they are finally reducing the widgets board and killing the msn news feed and dumbing down notifications.
I’d prefer the widgets got removed entirely.

I never used the board and always turned it off on 10.
Having the latest weather and to some extent news headlines is nice though.
Explorer is supposed to get faster as ms trys to win back the userbase.
According to steam community about a quarter of users still like 10 for what it is.
I’d personally agree with them.
Windows 11 has had multiple bugs, fuckups and instabilities most in the name of security and progress.
Windows 10 has had almost none.
As I said previously do I want my system to be secure or do I want it to function.
Sorry microsoft, but my system isn’t much good if it can’t start or function.
If you’re like that your security can fuck off.
What is security if I can’t login anyway.
I do think even for those not support microsoft should give security certs if only to keep those systems booting.
I mean its bad enough us having to upgrade in the first place when our funds and lives haven’t changed and our systems still work but especially now with the trump muslam vandetta for his social network going on its not that responsable.
For 1 I’d keep windows 10 updating for the moment or at least give us the ability to continue starting the system.
Failing that, I’d at least leave the system in a workable state.
You guys are just going to make more landfilled items.

Windows also did require 32gb ram for gamers with multiple windows open.
Microsoft almost immediately pulled this because as expected 16gb will work for most users and the cost of ram well.
Even I am not planning to upgrade my box to a cheaper one for the fact I need an extra drive and ram and for the other only an extra drive.
Its also got ai.
I have been asked to research some smart glasses of a particular type on mainstream and found out a bunch of stuff about ai.
The echovision glasses for example cost 500 us to buy and then about 108 us a year to handle, 9 a month.
Thats round 200 bucks a year which seems to be standard for the ai system.
Would I pay to see is my question.
I don’t know.
I am unsure if its worth my time to pay for sight.
It would be nice to have it I guess but to be locked in a push to see does make me wander.
I have been asked to research a system called rokid.
Its 1200 but thats with a screen, there is a cheaper nz unit at 300 bucks.
I don’t have a phone that can run third party apps so I need a blindshell3 which will cost even more.
I already need to update my system this year so hmmm.
And right now its free to use the system but next year its going to cost.
Its not something I’d usually entertain.
I have the cash for now but since my lot are retired that cash needs to last me till I leave this existance.
So paying so I can be told what is about is not exactly my mission.
It is almost easy to just say, fuck off and be done with it.
Any sane and logical person would do this like right now.
I am usually one such guy.

I do wander what would happen if the borg advertised in time the collective as an alternitive to the shitty lives we have.
