I’m going to start off with question. How many domains does it take to make Corona look bad? I mean, how many domains do you think are registered in the domain space that can make Corona look bad?
Krebs on security is reporting that there are thousands of domains that are currently out there that may be a problem when looking for information in regards to the Corona Virus. Name Cheap had sent an email to its customers which I’m one of them indicating that they will not register domains that are corona virus based unless you contact them first.
According to the article I’ll link to, it is looking like other operators that register domains may be forced to register domains manually for people who want to use it to deceminate the information that is so vital today.
We do know now that two NFL players have now contracted the disease, one was mentioned on April 16th. While this is sad, and our times have changed, this gives us no right to give out bad information on something that is killing thousands.
Here is what I can tell you as of 16:00 PT thanks to NFB newsline online. Remember! You can get this info from anywhere, NFB taps in to this data and makes it accessible to us.
World wide to date, there have been 2173206 cases and 144950 deaths. There are currently 1481932 active cases and 546324 have recovered.
I’m not going to go through all of the data, but here is a sampling of the data as of the above time.
In New York there have been 226198 cases and 16106 deaths to date. Today, there are 7636 new cases, 606 deaths and 186205 current active cases.
In New Jersey there have been 75317 cases and 3518 deaths to date. Today, there are 4287 new cases, 362 deaths and 70528 current active cases.
In Massachusetts there have been 32181 cases and 1245 deaths to date. Today, there are 2263 new cases, 137 deaths and 22818 current active cases.
In Michigan there have been 29263 cases and 2093 deaths to date. Today, there are 1204 new cases, 172 deaths and 26727 current active cases.
In Pennsylvania there have been 27735 cases and 837 deaths to date. Today, there are 982 new cases, 58 deaths and 26248 current active cases.
As you can see, these are the hotspots, and I’m happy to see California has moved down. This is a good sign. Official sources are the key for this data, and while this data may change, and will change, no domain today will give you this data which is so vital.
The above is only a sampling. NFB Newline does allow to sort by alphabet, and even get the world stats as well. My goal is not to share everything here, but to give you that sampling of data we do have already.
I want you to be able to learn what types of things are out there, and therefore I want to share what I’m reading in this space. To read more from Krebs, please go to the article: Sipping from the Coronavirus Domain Firehose and please feel free to ask any questions. I’ll do my best to assist, but I’m not versed in this except to understand what domains are, how to get one, and to set them up.
This is great reporting, Krebs, thanks so much for posting this for the world to have!
