I’ve been so far behind, so lets give you some current news in regards to what is going on in the security field.
One of the things that really gets me is the final word on connect car standards. Why cars need to be connected to the Internet to run is beyond me, I’ve heard stories of cars, apps, and the fact the remote access was never revoked after returning the car as a rental car. If that isn’t bad enough, if the cars are connected for our future streets network for automated cars, I don’t think we’re even ready for that yet.
Cybersecurity has shot to the top of many IT leaders’ priorities over the past few months as remote working became the de facto way of doing business.
Yet despite more awareness of the security risks of working from home, employees are still showing a lax attitude when putting it into practice. Trend
Micro recently surveyed more than 13,000 remote workers across 27 countries and found that 72% of respondents claimed to have gained better cybersecurity
awareness during the pandemic.
This is just one article mentioning the fact that people don’t care, even though they’re working from home. The number I saw from an article was a 72 percent increase of awareness of the dangers, and I’m not sure if this is the same article. If we haven’t learned anything before the pandemic, we won’t learn anything now.
Eight U.S. cities recently had payment card data stolen via point-of-sale skimming malware on their Click2Gov online payment platforms, according to Trend
Micro. Five of those cities had already been victims of similar Magecart-style attacks in recent years. This new round of attacks targeted payment card
information, along with the card owner’s name and address.
Don’t know if I’ve read this one, but this is not a shock to me. We’ve sure not had any luck securing cities and states though, so this isn’t anyone’s surprise.
