What is going on over in election land?

I read an article recently titled Election workers in battleground states faced onslaught of malicious emails, researchers say from Cyberscoop.

It was interesting, because even our officials that we elect are getting hit with all kinds of things. If they aren’t elected by us, they work at the poles and other places that we might go to.

According to the article, election workers in several states were targeted prior to the scheduled primaries. This makes these guys a target as some may not understand the dangers that lurk out there.

Maybe they need to visit a site like the beta of emhs so they can get resources on how to protect themselves.

I’m not saying for one minute that I can solve the problem, but with resources out there, we should be learning, not makinb mistakes.

The malicious activity, which included password theft attempts and efforts to deliver malware via poisoned links, is particularly concerning considering that county election workers are often “the least sophisticated actors in terms of cybersecurity postures, but the most critical in actual electoral engagement with voters,” researchers with cybersecurity firm Trellix’s Advanced Research Center said Wednesday.

There’s plenty more on this article, and as someone who doesn’t vote, this type of thing concerns me, especially if I needed help. How would I know if I could trust them to help me, when they could be convinced to do something to hurt the network they’re on to do their job?

I guess only time will tell.
