This morning, I got a call from yet another Go IGI customer servvice representative. I blogged about them briefly on this blog post when talking about phone scams.
I politely told the gentleman who called that their web site is not accessible to people with disabilities. Explained very politely an example on their links which are images which are not labeled but say link.
He insisted that I need an app, as people use phones. Yes, I can agree that maybe I should get an app, but I had someone build an app, sent them the appropriate paperwork which I signed, then heard nothing back.
It was actually a local company too. Asked if their apps were accessible for people with disabilities.
Since Go IGI is an Indian company, they tell me that their clients are happy. Great! But do the companies that they serve have people with disabilities?
I’m not going to trash this company, although they seem to call from around the country, so be leery of that.
I politely told them that I’m not interested in their services unless I see that they make accessible work.
I’ve talked about Uber and others being sued or highly criticized for their inaccessibility work as of late, and was trying to determine if this company can do what I’d expect.
If their web site has anything to say for itself, you need to decide what you’re going to use. I prefer to do it alone.
I update sites like EMHS quite regularly, and am not going to just outsource my work to a company who can’t get it right on first imnpression on a web site.
Just my opinion.
Want to sound off? Go over to my web site and pop an email in my box. I’m curious if any reader has had any business with the company and whether it meets your needs when it comes to accessibility work.
Just a musing for the day. Thanks for reading! Be on the look out. Make your own decision.
