NCSAM stands for National cyber security awareness month.
While the first blog inadvertently posted but has since been changed, let’s tell you what we’re covering this year.
- week 1: passwords dos and don’ts
- week 2: scams and what we’ve seen
- week 3: software patching, updates and the like
- week 4: social media and privacy
- week 5: credit cards, how they work, shopping, and virtual cards and their services
- week 6: books
Week 1:
What are they saying we should do with passwords? Either use a password manager or do something with something you can remember that would make it hard for people to guess.
Week 2
Scams are everywhere and we continue to post about those that are talked about. If you don’t learn, than you could be a statistic, correct?
Week 3
Patching. Why are we not learning about patching our software? We hear about software not being updated thanks to companies who either can’t or don’t. No names in this post.
Week 5
Credit cards and debit cards. How do they work? How can they protect you? What do we recommend you use instead and how does that work?
Week 6: our final week
We’ll talk about books in week 6. What caught our attention that we’ve read and or that we might read?
Why so many weeks? TSB’s running of NCSAM is 5 weeks, but Throwback has 4 weeks. One of the topics will go in to November, and that’s OK for TSB since October this year is 5 weeks.
We hope you’ll enjoy NCSAM this year, and search the blog for NCSAM as we’ll tag things as such. Happy learning!
