On May 26, 2026: this blog blogged about the potential breach at Charter Communications which now owns Spectrum.
The image shows a dark-themed user interface with three panels. The center panel is prominent and titled “Charter Communications” marked as “NEW.” It states that over 42 million records containing personally identifiable information (PII) have been compromised. It accuses the company of ignoring attempts to reach an agreement despite numerous offers. Below, there is a checksum identifier, a note of 42M+ Records, an update date of 28 May 2026, and a blue “DOWNLOAD” button. The left and right panels contain blurred and unreadable text.
It seems as though our famous group Shiny Hunters was not bluffing, although this article is also stating that Charter/Spectrum has not confirmed or denied any of the claims.
Just like In Metro’s Case
blog post 1 and blog post 2
there has been no confirmation made by the company impacted.
Shiny Hunters apparently got in to Charter through its Salesforce instance, and while names, addresses and phone numbers among other things may have been pilfered, one piece of information discussed in this article was not touched according to the company.
The full article this time is Charter Communications data breach affects 4.9 million accounts if you want to dive in.
I recently signed up for Spectrum, so I’m pretty sure I’m doomed, but then again, I and many millions have already been through healthcare and other big breaches already. This is just getting old and crazy. Very crazy. And I don’t think it’ll be stopping any time soon.
Maybe once we dive in to our next topic, this will be better understood. TSB will get very interesting. Very interesting, this week.
